BJ RAMONE

BJ Ramone was born in New york city during one of the worst blizzards of 1983 to Karen Ramone and Phil Ramone. Phil and Karen raised him in a small town in westchester county. By High school, BJ attended St. Luke's School in Connecticut, and continued on to study at Skidmore college earning a Bachelor's degree in music.

Skidmore exposed BJ to classical guitar instruction, sketch comedy, recording live performances, and the physics of sound.

His senior project analyzed the acoustical differences of recording a guitar in different rooms and environments. Focusing on the frequency responses of recording in an acoustically treated room versus a garage.

BJ's journey to becoming an audio engineer came through general trial and error. Although exposed at a young age to recording studios, concerts, award shows, and film sets, BJ never had pressure from home to move in a specific direction.  Quite the opposite,  Phil & Karen encouraged BJ to explore his own interests and curiosities. They even tried to guide him away from the infamous music industry. 

Starting at the age of twelve, BJ recorded whatever he could onto his Yamaha 4-track cassette recorder. Finally, high school bands provided more practice while BJ upgraded to a 16-track digital recorder. Once in college BJ took on a job with the music department recording students, faculty and performances by visiting artists.  In addition, during this time BJ became more familiar with professional recording sessions, through an internship with a local recording studio and sitting in on his father's projects.

Once out of school, BJ began narrowing his focus to becoming an audio engineer. Grateful to his father providing a door to opportunities, producer, engineer  Frank Filipetti welcomed BJ to sit in and offered assisting jobs when available.

From there, BJ took advantage of a mentor-ship with Eric Schilling down in Miami, FL.  After a year, Eric introduced and provided a recommendation for BJ to Tom and Jim Morris.  Tom and Jim own and run Morrisound Recording in Tampa, FL where BJ continued to develop for 3 years.

He has gone on to work side by side with some of music's greatest engineers and producers including Frank Filipetti, Eric Schilling, Elliot Scheiner, Al Schmitt, Tom Morris, Jim Morris, Jim Scott, Dae Bennett, and Of crouse Phil Ramone.
